Why I found high finance recruitment so hard

I went about high finance recruitment independently and it was my biggest regret

Too much info online made it hard to condense what info is most important. Felt like I was going through textbooks on my own to study for exams instead of having a prof teach me and summarize the key concepts

Was memorizing the 400 IB questions instead of doing mock interviews to practice

Didn’t have people in my shoes I could ask questions to so constantly felt lost without direction

The result of going about recruitment alone?

  • I wasted 400hrs+

  • Relied solely trial & error

  • I was constantly doubting myself & stressed about recruitment

Looking back I wish I had someone in my shoes who landed the roles I was seeking guide me since I can follow their foot steps and leverage their time, mistakes, & knowledge

Even though I ended up breaking into high finance alone the journey was full of ups & down and frankly sucked

Hence why I started JHL in my last year to help students avoid the painful process I had to endure

PS. If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together
