At the end of your coffee chat say:

• “Hi Name, it was great learning more about your role and firm (specify). I actually recently applied to the Investment Banking summer role at your firm. Do you have any insights with next steps?”

• If they are involved with recruitment then ask, “Thank you for your valuable insights, are you able to please refer me for next steps?”

• If not involved, ask “Can you please introduce you to a team member who is part of the process?”
