1) Showcase relevant work experience

Leverage your experience and bullet points from your resume and further explain how they are relevant to the role you are applying for

Quantify your sentences with #s, $ values, etc similar to your resume bullets to make it stand out

Securing your 1st internship + having a solid work experience history is your best friend

2) Tailor for why this role & company

Role: Leverage job description and explain how you are interested in the nature of the work + have relevant skills.

Mention how you have a particular interest in X industry

Company: Mention how you align with the companies values, mission, and culture.

Mention who you networked with and how you align with their people both professionally and personally

3) Proper presentation/format

Keep your Cover Letter to 1 page

Have a proper letter format (your info at the top right, their info in the bottom left header). The top section of your cover letter shouldn’t look like your resume format

Proper thank you sentence at the end + your signature

Times Roman 11 size font
